Rolling
Hills Country Day School is an independent,
coeducational, nonsectarian school situated on the
Palos Verdes Peninsula and serving students
throughout the South Bay for students in
Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Our classes are
grouped into the Lower School, which encompasses
Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and is led by Mrs.
Linda Mendelson, and the Middle School, which is
comprised of Grades Six through Eighth and is led
by Jay Buckley.
In
both the Lower and Middle Schools, our curriculum
is designed to assist students in developing a
foundation of knowledge and forming sound habits
for life-long learning. Our class sizes are limited
so as to achieve optimal learning conditions, and
students of RHCDS benefit from one of the lowest
student-teacher ratios in the state.
At
Country Day School we also understand and are
sensitive to the evolution of the family and the
demands of school, work and extracurricular
activities. Therefore, we have developed several
after-school programs to provide some flexibility
for working parents. Those programs include a
Homework Club, 7th Period after-school care, an
after school swim program, various team sports, and
the Ecology Club.
One
of the foundations of RHCDS is a strong and active
Parents Association. We are fortunate that many of
our parents are involved in supporting the school
and their children by volunteering to plan and help
with various school
functions.
At
Country Day, we strive to give our students the
best learning experience possible. Our school motto
is "Building for a Lifetime of Success." As
students journey through their years at Country
Day, they build on their academic foundation and
strengths. They build on their physical
achievements and learn new skills. They build on
their friendships, enjoying old acquaintances and
meeting new friends, and they see personal growth
in social responsibility, accountability, and high
moral standards. Our students grow in many ways,
and our goal is to provide them with all the
resources, direction, and caring that makes this
possible.
Country
Day school is about opportunities. It is about
possibilities.
