The RHCDS Middle School has been designed so that it meets the unique needs of our pre-adolescent and adolescent Grade Five through Eight students. Each grade enjoys small class size, which facilitates individualized and small group instruction. Grades Five and Six are partially departmentalized and Grades Seven and Eight are fully departmentalized. We group students homogeneously after Fifth Grade for mathematics and language arts and heterogeneously for science, social studies, computer science, Spanish, and physical education. Country Day School's curriculum allows for, and our teachers treasure, the individuality of each student. Curriculum Our curriculum and varied programs address all strands of development of the Middle School child: physical, intellectual, emotional, and moral. Our program is designed to ease the transition from the middle school years to the secondary school. The goals of the Middle School are: • To place a high value on self esteem • To establish academic consistency, time management, study skills, and a solid work ethic • To instill accountability and responsibility • To prepare students for a secondary school curriculum • To foster positive role model behavior At Country Day School we are dedicated to maintaining standards of excellence for all of our students so that they may have the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
