Many young children dream of riding in a fire truck and being a firefighter answering a call for help. Well, one lucky RHCDS kindergartner and her family were the top bidders in our live auction at our Parent Social last October. They won a special private tour of the Lomita fire station and got to ride to school on the fire engine. They arrived at school with sirens blaring and lights blazing to a group of very excited kindergarten classmates!
The lucky young lady also participated in a mock rescue that the firemen set up. She saved a “baby” from a burning building and used a real fire hose to put out the flames!
Each kindergartner received a fire hat and sticker badge and were able to check out the fire engine up close.
This was a very special memory for all. A big thank you to the Lomita Fire Department for making this dream come true!
